The Tascam US 122MKII is a USB 2 channel interface. It has switchable phantom power right on it. There are two XLR inputs for mics and 2 low noise microphone preamps. It comes with Cubase LE 4 and works great with multiple DAW software programs so you do not have to use it with Cubase LE if you do.
Is connected to the US-122 via MIDI cables which is then connected to laptop through USB. Trouble is I cant get the MIDI to function how it should. The MIDI IN light does not come on at all. Should the MIDI IN light come on just by pressing a key on the keyboard? Or does the whole thing need to be set up correctly in Cubase before it will even think about identifying MIDI?! If I record MIDI tracks into Cubase using another keyboard, and then set the OUT channel to my CS1X and play it back, the MIDI OUT light does come on but does not transmit the data to the CS1X in order for the sound to come out. At least I think its not transferring data!
There is certainly no sound coming out of the CS1X anyway! So all in all I'm having no joy with the MIDI. Is it a problem with the unit?
Depending on the type of event, the sign in sheet will also include areas for you to write the main dish, side dish, desert, and any utensils you decide to bring. .
I would have thought the Tascam MIDI IN light would come on just by hitting a key on the keyboard but is that not how it should work? Any help appreciated!
I have no idea on this specific keyboard but first Id try to get a hold of another midi device to see if it worked with the tascam.if it does you can rule the tascam out. Then Id look to see if you have to set your CS to transmit midi, if the channel transmitted is the same as the tascam receives (does Tascam have a control panel on your PC?), does the CS needs to have its local sounds turned off to be used as a midi controller.process of elimination Im afraid Cubase wont have anything to do with the tascam receiving midi in the first place, if, however, Cubase is showing its receiving midi on the track but no sound is coming out, then it would be the problem. I tried the TASCAM with another MIDI device and still no joy. The MIDI In light is not coming on at all so if you think this is independant of the DAW then it sounds like a duff unit. I've tried turning the Local Sounds Off on the CS1X with no difference.
If I play a MIDI track back through Cubase then the MIDI Out light does come on, but this is not being played through the CS1X. I think I'll have to take the unit to a qualified vendor so they can test it properly. As far as I can see the Send and Receive channels are set to 1. There is no control panel for the TASCAM to retrieve specific channels etc.
I used to be a professional musician and recently decided to get back into doing some demo tracks. I have an fully loaded MacBook Pro with Garage Band.
I took the GarageBand course, bought a little M-Audio Keyboard and procuced two original tunes; great! Now however, I want to go a bit further so I went into B&H Electronics in NYC and bought the Tascam (model above).
The sales person told me that I would be able to plug my Yamaha and Kruzweil keyboards into the unit and that the voices from these instruments could be recorded into GarageBand. Same with the microphone and my harmonic decoder. So far, the only thing I have bee able to do is record my Ovation Guitar. I cannot get the device to recognize my keyboards or my microphone. I am ready to return it.
. A discharged battery can be fully charged in less than 3 hours using a built-in fast charger and external 12 VDC power supply. Yellow Frog 2™ operates continuously for over 8 hours using an internal Lithium Polymer battery. This power meter connects directly to Gator™, ™, ™ or any transmitter with a standard type “N” connector for instant verification of wired power levels in dBm or Watts.
Does anyone out there have any experience on how to make this device work? Thank you for your responses. How are you plugging them in? If you can get the guitar to work, every thing else should. You should plug the line out from your keyboard to the audio inputs of your tascam. For the mic, it should go into the mic in. As for returning it, it's not a bad idea.
It sounds as though you just plugged things wrong if you can get it to record your guitar. But tascam interfaces are a pain in the ass. Really, I had the L version of the interface and it wouldn't work when I wanted it to. I had to reinstall the drivers countless times, plug and unplug it, restart my computer. And apparently, I'm not the only one to get all of those problem, there's a thread about in the board. They never release new drivers and usually the updates aren't that better.
I just hope I can save you the trouble. Hi, This is a 4 page (or more) thread about a Tascam Unit The Model US-122 Link on this forum here= There is another and I will post it (just the link after this post) I have one and did not try the USB powered Hub as my imac is new as of late summer and that unit is USB 1.1 anyway US-122 (which is Silver and Blue in most cases) and a earlier model than yours, Your last post, I agree with, return and get a A/I that is keeping up with drivers etc, has the inputs and outputs You need and consider having one that is not only USB or FW powered but has a DC power supply. B&H has a huge list of USB & FW as well as PCI and is it PCIE?
